Alumni to gather June 24

Posted

Purcell’s Alumni will gather this June for the school’s every three-year reunion.

The event is ticketed for June 24 that will include a Memorial Service for Dragons who have been lost since the last gathering.

That’s the word from reunion organizer Pam Hobbs.

Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. that Saturday in the Purcell High School Commons area.

The Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Red Hill followed by a banquet at 5:30 p.m. in the high school commons area.

Some old-timers (like myself) have been asking about the date so they can make travel plans and try to rally their classmates to attend the event.

That’s the details in a nutshell up to this point.

Purcell’s unofficial official rain gauge is a multi-tasker.

My rain gauge in the front yard also serves as second base for Whiffle Ball games.

That’s the good news.

The bad news is that it took it on the chin Sunday during a heated game between a pair of grandsons.

Luckily I had a backup gauge.

Patty Gasso has done a remarkable job as the University of Oklahoma Softball coach.

Since she was hired in 1995 Gasso’s teams have won six national championships.

They just clinched their 12th Big 12 regular season conference crown after sweeping Kansas over the weekend.

Her Sooners are currently in a 32 straight Big 12 game victory streak.

While she has been coaching the Sooners, Gasso has compiled a winning percentage of .802 putting her up in the rarefied air with the likes programs like of Nick Saban’s football at Alabama and Geno Auriemma’s women’s basketball at Connecticut.
