Air conditioned stadium

Like many of you, we’ve made the trip to Arlington several times over the years to watch the Texas Rangers play baseball.

Family scheduling in recent years has prevented such trips but this year we finally made it happen.

Never in my wildest imagination would I have ever thought we would travel to Texas to watch the Rangers in late July and need long pants and a sweatshirt.

But that was the case Friday night.

We were on the top row of our section and the fans from the air conditioning blew right down on top of us.

Don’t get me wrong, the air conditioning was a very welcome addition to the Globe Life Field.

We’ve been to the old stadium and then the newer one and sweltered in the summer heat.

As soon as we walked in from the 97 degree weather outside, the relief from the searing heat was felt immediately.

The problem was, the fans from the A/C were blowing directly on us.

Of course neither Gracie nor I brought any long pants or sweatshirts.

We toyed with the idea of getting a sweatshirt for the Saturday night game but didn’t.

As it turned out we sat in different seats and didn’t have the fans blowing right on top of us.

That proved to be much more pleasant for everyone with the exception of polar bear impersonator John Denny, who lapped up the extra cool air.

It was the first major league baseball game for three of our group.

And much to the chagrin of a pair of youngsters in the family, their Atlanta Braves came up on the short end of the stick both nights.
