After a GFL truck struck a utility pole in the Mazzio’s parking lot Thursday morning, power was out for about eight hours for both Mazzio’s and Dollar General Store.

That’s was the word from the Purcell Electric Department after three transformers were lost in the accident.

Until the city replaced the broken pole, homes south of that line experience extended outages, electric department officials confirmed.

Other homes in the affected area had power restored earlier.The two businesses got power back that evening.
