Editor’s note: Answering The Purcell Register’s five questions this week is Rocky Clarke, Washington Elementary School principal.
Q: As principal over pre-K through 5th grade, you are wearing two hats when compared to your peers in the area. What are the challenges of being over such a wide range in a growing district?
A: I don’t see it as a big deal! My job is not a job to me it is a calling and I love it, I feel blessed to have my job.
Q: How long have you been in education? And how long as an administrator?
A: Forty-four years, 22 as an administrator.
Q: Do you have much one-on-one interaction with students?
A: Yes, everyday and that is my favorite part of my day.
Q: How strict or lenient are you?
A: Being strict or lenient depends on the situation.
Q: What is something most people don’t know about you?
A: As an administrator you are only as good as your teachers. We have great teachers at Washington, Oklahoma. Our teachers at Washington make my job easy. I love them!
