Posted

Editor’s note: Answering  The Purcell Register’s five questions this week is Lauren Tharp, co-owner of Main Street Vintage.

Q: How did you get into vintage items?

A: My grandmother owned an antique store and would let me help out. I always admired her decorating abilities and dreamed of having a shop of my own someday.

Q: How long have you been buying/selling/collecting?

A: My husband has been in the industry for over a decade! I joined him in the business in 2017. It’s something we enjoy doing together.

Q: What’s the favorite piece you’ve owned?

A:  Once we had an 1800’s Victorian pink velvet settee that I wanted to keep forever! We had it for a total of three days before we found the perfect buyer!

Q: What’s it like dealing in vintage wears for your job and not just a hobby?

A: Every day is an adventure! When we go out “pickin’” we never know what we’re going to find or what cool place we’ll discover. Having our own store is a dream come true. We’re enjoying the ride & truly appreciate all of the support we’ve received so far!

Q: What is the most gratifying part of your job?

A: The most gratifying part of my job is seeing our handpicked items bring back memories for our customers!
