Editor’s note: Answering  The Purcell Register’s five questions this week is Jeremy Tucker, transportation director for Purcell Public Schools

Q: How many buses/routes does Purcell Public Schools have?

A: The school district has 13 buses, four regular bus routes and one special service route.

Q: How long have you been the district’s transportation director?

A: This is my fifth year working for the district, but it is my fourth year driving a bus and my second year as director of transportation.

Q: What is the best part of driving a school bus?

A: The best part of driving a bus is seeing the kids grow up year after year.

Q: What is the longest route in the district?

A: Currently, Bus #2/Route 2 is the longest. Due to the lack  of school bus drivers that is a national crisis, we had to combine Routes 3 and 2.

Q: What qualities does a person need to be a successful school bus driver?

A: Must be firm, fair and consistent with the rules of the bus. Also patience is a big must as well. Being aware of all safety protocols and being able to make quick decisions in an event that may occur during the route.
