Posted

What started out as a controlled burn on SH 77 on the north side of Lexington Tuesday turned into a much bigger deal.

Firefighters from both Slaughterville and Purcell assisted Lexington dousing a blaze at the Lexington dump.

Initially, some pallets were being burned when cars, tires and batteries caught fire, according to Lexington Assistant Fire Chief Max Punneo.

Punneo said five vehicles, four piles of tires and some grass were burned in the fire that was called in at 12:10 p.m.

There were no reported injuries.
