Monday evening the Wayne Lady Bulldogs added two more wins with a 6-4 victory and a 9-1 victory, both over 5A Blanchard. Those wins put their season record at 21-1.

In their first game, it was a walk-off triple from Daliyah Fuentes that sealed the win for the Lady Bulldogs.

Down 4-3 through the top of the fifth inning, Fuentes tripled to bring in three runs to top the Lady Lions.

Wayne had seven hits, including two from Haiden Parker and Fuentes.

Shyleigh Mantooth was in the circle for Wayne. She fanned one batter and gave up eight hits.

“We hit the ball well in the first game but it was just right at them. And, we left too many runners stranded on base,” head coach Charles Durrence said.

Their second game with Blanchard was a different story.

Wayne jumped out 5-0 in the bottom of the first inning. They added three in the second and one run in the third.

Blanchard finally scratched in the top of the fourth inning, scoring one run. But, that’s all she wrote.

Wayne had 12 hits in the win. Fuentes had three hits and Faith Brazell, Madden and Parker had two apiece.

Mantooth was the winning pitcher again. She allowed just one run on eight hits and fanned one batter.

Last week Wayne also added wins over Dibble, 26-21, Varnum, 10-2, and Ada, 14-2.

Through those three games they had 55 hits as a team.

“We do a lot of hitting and put in a lot of work. It’s one of our strengths,” Durrence said.

Thursday was the high-scoring affair in Dibble.

Tied at 21-all in the seventh inning, Fuentes knocked in two runs on a double to pull ahead and get the win.

Jordyn Debaets was red-hot at the plate for Wayne. She went 4-4 with a dinger in the first, second and fourth innings.

Fuentes and Debaets had six ribbies each.

In all, the Lady Bulldogs had 30 hits in the win. Nine of those were homeruns. Debaets had three, Mantooth had two, Fuentes had two, and Madden and Allison Ryan had one each.

On Friday, Wayne was in Vanoss for festival games with Varnum and Ada.

In the 10-2 win over Varnum, Wayne got things going early with two runs in the first and second innings and one more in the third.

They added five more through the final three innings to get the lopsided win.

Wayne had 16 hits, including multiple hits from Durrence, Parker, Brazell, Fuentes and Mantooth.

They also had 10 RBIs in the win.

“I’m super proud of the team. They have been working hard and we’re ready to go as far as we can,” Durrence said.

Weather was potentially a factor for Tuesday’s game at Macomb. And Thursday’s game was up in the air as of presstime as well.

Next week, Wayne will be in Central to play the Lady Brochos and then host Wilson on Tuesday.

District pairings were released and Wayne will play host to Elmore City and Crescent. The first game, ECP and Crescent, will start at noon on Thursday April 21.
