Mrs. Adkins passed away Saturday, January 11, 2025.
Emma Yvonne Phillips was born August 7, 1933 in Newcastle, the youngest of three children born to William E. Phillips Jr and Audrey (Patton) Phillips. She was raised in Newcastle and attended school there.
She married the love of her life, B.P. Adkins, on August 6, 1949 in Norman. They made their home on the family farm in Goldsby where they raised two children, son Scott and daughter Marcia.
Yvonne worked as a farmer and rancher, side by side with Bill in the day-to-day operations of Adkins Farms. She genuinely loved the farm, and her work was her hobby. Yvonne “Purdy” was a great hostess and all her friends and family claim their fondest memories at her and B.P.’s home.
Yvonne was a woman of great faith and longtime member of McFarlin Methodist Church in Norman. She cherished her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed!
She was preceded in death by her husband, B.P. Adkins; daughter-in-law, Libby Adkins; her parents, William E. Jr and Audrey Phillips and brothers, Harry Phillips and wife, Nadine, and Walter Phillips.
Yvonne is survived by her children, Marcia Adkins of Goldsby and Scott Adkins of Goldsby; five grandchildren, Brandon Adkins of Goldsby, Brett Adkins and wife, Tina, of Goldsby, Phillip Adkins and wife, Monica, of Goldsby, Mitzi Moring and husband, Barry, of Newcastle and Ryan Hill and wife, Megan, of Goldsby; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
