Wayne seasons end

Head coach Josh Trent’s Lady Bulldogs faced the Quinton Lady Savages on Monday afternoon. Though the game was close through four quarters, Wayne ended their season with a 37-36 loss.

“The girls played hard and battled through, but couldn’t pull out the win,” Trent said.

The two teams went four rounds and Wayne held the lead the majority of the game. But, in the end, Quinton outscored Wayne in the final quarter to move on in post-season play.

“The girls always play hard as a team and give their all. I’m very proud of them for persevering through this crazy, interrupted season we have all had to deal with.

“They have improved every single season I have coached them,” Trent said.

Kaylee Madden led the Lady Bulldogs with 14 points. Allie Walck, Wayne’s lone senior, had seven and McKenzie Fisher had six.

On Saturday, Wayne was in North Rock Creek where they beat Arkoma 42-28.

“All of the girls played their role in the game to pull out the win,” Trent said.

Lorensa Martinez was the only Lady Bulldogs in double figures with 14.

The Lady Bulldogs finish the season with a 13-12 record.

Boys

The Bulldogs were in North Rock Creek on Saturday to face Arkoma in Regionals.

Leading the whole game, Wayne’s shooting went cold in the fourth quarter, according to Trent.

“We didn’t shoot the ball very well in the final quarter and got in foul trouble late,” said Trent.

Three Bulldogs were in double figures in the loss. Brannon Lewelling had 13, Kaleb Madden had 12 and Ethan Mullings had 11.

The Bulldogs finish the season with an 8-15 record. Talon Trent is the lone senior lost to graduation.
