Wayne back on the road

Posted

Wayne hits the road today (Thursday) to Dibble after their homecoming date called in sick last week.

Healdton was forced to cancel their game against the Bulldogs due to COVID-19, forcing Wayne administrators to move homecoming coronation to 2:30 p.m. at D.S. Zack Powell Stadium last Friday.

Wayne will face a talented Dibble Demon squad at 7 p.m. this Thursday.

“Dibble is extremely athletic,” Wayne head coach Brandon Sharp said. “Their running backs are the best group we’ve seen so far this season.”

The coach said they line up in multiple offensive formations and their linemen do a good job up front blocking.

“They have athletic receivers and their coaches put them in positions to be successful.”

Defensively the Demons like to mix up their fronts as well.

“They have a defensive end-outside linebacker type who is very active,” Sharp said. “He’s a good player, that’s the bottom line. We’ll have to block him and keep a body on him or he’ll be in our backfield making plays.”

Sharp said the linebackers are good at filling their gaps.

“They will punish you when they get there,” he said.

Last season Dibble finished with a 9-3 record.

“It is going to be a challenge and this is the best team we’ve seen to this point,” Sharp said. “Coach (Richard) Norman has them playing well right now.”
