Mrs. Wood passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2020.

Laura Virginia Hottel was born December 27, 1925 in Stratford Okla., the oldest of three children and only daughter of Joe and Nina Hottel. She was raised in Stratford and attended Stratford Schools, graduating with the class of 1944.

On June 16, 1944, she married her sweetheart and best friend O.B. Wood. Virginia worked at Douglas Aircraft during the war. After O.B. returned home from service they moved to Muskogee for a short time. It was there they welcomed their daughter, Sharon. The Capitol Hill area of Oklahoma City was home for 30 years, and, planning for retirement, they moved to their farm in Purcell, where they spent some of the best years of their lives. Virginia loved her home, flowers, garden and her pets.

She worked at Macklanburg Duncan for 26 years retiring in 1990. She also worked as a beautician throughout the years, worked at Rivermont Senior Living for 20 years.

Virginia was a people person, they loved her and she loved them. She loved the Lord with all her heart and her family was her world. Proud mom, grandma, great grandma, sister and aunt, she loved them all. She will be missed, but we are blessed with wonderful memories.

Virginia was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, O.B. Wood and her parents, Joe and Nina Hottel.
