Mr. Herell passed away unexpectedly Sunday, January 23, 2022.

Tommy Dwayne Herell was born July 29, 1957 in Purcell, Okla., the older of two children born to Tommy Lee Herell and Claudine (Ruth) Herell. He was raised in Purcell and attended school there, graduating with the Dragon Class of 1976, where the nickname Fred originated and stuck.

He started working with his grandfather, father, and uncles at Herell’s Service Station in Purcell at the age of 14, cultivating a work ethic that never fluctuated nor diminished. Fred became a father, a role he cherished, when he welcomed his first child, Trisha Renee’, in 1983.

In 1990, Fred met Debbie, his best friend and soulmate.  Their friendship was instantaneous. It endured as they created a family and home with Trisha, additional daughters Brandy and Samantha, and Tommy Ryan, a son who completed the family in 1993.

For the last the 13 years, Fred has worked as a truck driver in road maintenance for McClain County District 2, a job he genuinely enjoyed, allowing him additional time to spend with the ones he loved. Away from work, he enjoyed anything outside: vacations, beach trips, and visiting the lake.

Fred loved anything and everything to do with John Wayne, and could nearly recite every episode of “Gunsmoke.” Fred was a friend to everyone he met – never uttering an ill word about a single person. He would do anything for anyone with a smile on his face and kindness in his voice.  He cherished his family and friends deeply, and he will be dearly missed!

He was preceded in death by his father, Tommy Lee Herell.

Fred is survived by his wife, Debbie of the home; his mother, Claudine Herell of Purcell; children, Trisha Herell of Purcell, Brandy Kirkpatrick and husband, Cody, of Duncan, Samantha Perry and husband, Justin, of Moore and Tommy Ryan Herell and wife, Natalie, of Duncan; seven grandchildren, Kade, Colt, Autumn, Jack, Logan, Myra and Mazie; sister, Tammie Herell of Purcell and a host of other family and friends.
