Purcell Mayor Ted Cox was honored last Thursday at the Heart of Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce banquet as the Purcell Citizen of the Year.

Tabbed as the co-Goldsby Citizens of the Year were Ronny and Diann Nelson.

Another annual portion of the chamber’s awards banquet is the naming of the Giving Time Award winners.

Purcell City Councilwoman Theda Polk was named the Gateway Guardian Award winner.

The Gateway Guardian Award is given annually to a person who demonstrates leadership in government.

Landmark Church was named the winner of the Spirit Guardian Award which is presented annually to a person or organization who demonstrates distinguished human service.

The winner of the Vision Guardian Award was Purcell Teacher Lori Frankenberg. The award goes to an individual who exemplifies distinguished leadership in education.

Savannah Pyle, owner of Savvy Parke in Purcell, was named the Cornerstone Guardian Award winner for distinguished corporate leadership.

The banquet drew a sold out Southwind Hills in Goldsby with 300 attending. That’s the word from Chamber Executive Offier Elisabeth Baker.

A live auction at the banquet raised $7,000 for the chamber.
