Susan Elaine Merrell died July 29, 2022, in Purcell at the age of 73 years 6 months 28 days. Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at Wadley’s Funeral Chapel. Interment followed at Lexington Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.
Susan was born January 1, 1949, in Rock Springs, Wyoming, to Amon and Mary (Stull) Davis. Because Amon worked in the oil field, the family moved several times following work. Susan graduated from high school in Bossier City, Louisiana.
On August 31, 1968, she married Dannie Joe Merrell, and they raised two girls and four boys. Susan worked as a rural mail carrier in Lexington for over 20 years.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Amon and Mary Davis; her husband, Dannie Merrell; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and her sister, Patty Howry.
Survivors include her six children, Larry Merrell, Lisa Merrell, Jackie Merrell, Jaime Merrell, Dena Goodin and Christian Merrell; her sister, Sally Sims; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
