Raydon C. Thurston

Posted

A memorial service will be held for Raydon C. Thurston at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Strickland Funeral Home. 901 US-80 in Pooler, Ga.

Raydon left us too soon at the age of 22, from a car accident on September 27, 2021 in Pooler, Ga.

Born to Shannon Thurston and LaLaina Doudna at Ft. Stewart, Ga., Raydon took his name from his grandfather’s Robert “Bobby” Ray and Billy Don. Raydon had a good heart, bright smile and enjoyed being a big brother to Tyler, Harleigh and Baleigh.

When he wasn’t teasing his siblings, Raydon loved spending time with his many friends, usually skateboarding around Savannah, skimboarding at the local beaches or carousing around in his prized Impreza.

Every Savannah St. Patrick’s Parade, you’d find Raydon skating with the Spiva Law Firm as an advocate for the “Heads in Helmets” float. Simple pleasures in life gave him joy like getting the meat sweats at Brazilian Steakhouses, popping tags from the Goodwill, donning the moniker “Pablo” as an alternate persona with his peeps, or cutting a witty joke just to make everyone giggle. Raydon was always fun to be around.

Raydon leaves behind a host of family and friends including his parents, Shannon (Tami) Thurston of Pembroke, Ga., and LaLaina (Michael) Doudna of Chattanooga, Tenn.; brother, Tyler; sisters, Harleigh and Baleigh; grandparents, Bobby Burton, Denice Thurston, and Marina Minnick, all of Oklahoma; friends, anyone who knew him as “Pablo.”

Raydon will be joining his grandfather, Billy Don Minnick in a heavenly reunion.

A special thank you to those who have mentored and loved Raydon unconditionally throughout his life: Joy, Robby, Ronan, Slayde, Jason, Ashley and the cadre at Youth/Job ChalleNGe Academy at Ft. Stewart, Ga.
