Purcell Athletes honored

Purcell’s top athletes have been named for the class of 2020.

Gavin Nation has been named the winner of the Boney Matthews Award as the top male athlete at PHS.

Nation lettered in cross country, basketball and track.

There is a prerequisite of lettering in three sports for both the Boney and the Jack Angel, naming the top female athlete.

Alicia Baker, who lettered in basketball, golf and cross country, has been named the winner of the Jack Angel Award while Chelsea Spain has been tabbed as the winner of the Bob Haley Award.

That prestigious award also comes with a $1,000 scholarship for the multi-sport letter winner.

Athletic Director Carol Testa made the announcements.
