PMH increases patient visits

Purcell Municipal Hospital CEO/CNO Chris Wright reports since his staff made the move from the old PMH to the new facility outpatient visits have increased by 46 percent.

That’s an increase from 1,288 a month to 1,866 a month. Emergency room visits have increased by 14 percent from an average of 691 a month to 804 a month.

“Purcell Municipal Hospital provides the area with multiple healthcare services including a 24-hour emergency room, outpatient laboratory, on-site imaging including x-ray, CT and ultrasound, cardiovascular studies with nuclear medicine and stress testing,” Wright said.

“We also do cataract procedures, wound care and 10 inpatient beds,” Wright continued.

“I am so grateful to Purcell’s citizens, who voted by an 80 percent margin to support a hospital sales tax, which enabled us to build a state-of-the-art healthcare facility,” the CEO said.

“Over these past three years I have taken pride in establishing a culture in our hospital focusing on developing sustainable processes to provide healthcare to the patients we serve with compassion and empathy. We strive to exceed the city’s expectations.”

The hospital further supports its community with 58 full-time and approximately 40 part-time employees and, through a partnership with Mid-America Technology Center, has provided more than 200 adult health program students the opportunity to perform clinical rotations through the hospital in the past five years.

This past week the hospital celebrated the completion of the transition with the beginning of the demolition of the old building.

PMH is managed by SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital that provides a wide range of services that supports the hospital in its delivery of the highest quality health care to the community.

The hospital first opened here in 1970.
