Purcell opens the Regional Softball Tournament today (Thursday) at Cache against Madill at 2 p.m.
On the other side of the bracket are Cache and Bishop McGuinness. The tournament concludes Friday.
The Dragons split games against Perkins Monday and Tuesday.
Perkins traveled to Purcell Monday and pinned a 5-4 loss on the Dragons on Senior Night.
The Dragons returned the favor at Perkins the following day, 10-9 in a extra inning slugfest.
The two teams combined for 26 hits, 13 each.
Sophomore Kendra Anderson was the big stick for Purcell going 4-5 with a pair of doubles and two singles.
Mack McKay had three hits in the contest.
KK Vazquez, Miaca Martinez, Anderson and Ava Sparks all had two RBIs for the Dragons.
Purcell drew first blood scoring in the top of the first on a double by Martinez.
After falling behind, Purcell struck back to take a 7-5 lead only to have Perkins-Tryon knot the score in the bottom of the eighth before the Dragons pulled out the one-run victory.
Anderson tossed 7 2/3 innings before turning the rock over to Sparks who got the save.
In the Senior Night loss, Purcell fought to claw out of a four-run deficit but came up just short in a 5-4 loss.
Sparks took the loss in the circle.
McKay, Vazquez, Martinez, Anderson, Kami Rendon and Sparks all had hits in the game. Martinez and Sparks both knocked in a runner.
Last Thursday Bethel defeated the Dragons, 7-1 with Sparks taking the loss in the circle.
Sparks again finished with an RBI in the game while McKay, Vazquez, Martinez, Ali Brady and Raigen Mariott each had a hit.
Purcell came up on the short end of an 8-1 verdict at Latta Monday.
