After six years, Kayla Stewart hangs up her whistle

Former assistant coach Ryan Perry is taking over the duties as head fast-pitch coach of the Lexington Lady Bulldogs.

Perry has been a head coach at Verden and Gracemont and replaces Kayla Stewart who has decided to be a stay-at-home mom.

She was head coach of the Lady Bulldogs for the past six seasons.

The Lady Bulldogs open the season Monday and Tuesday hosting the Lexington Festival.

Gone off last year’s 11-16 team are Madeline Pack, Harley Salisbury, Sierra Petit, Jaci Idlett and Chloe Burk.

Back for their senior seasons are Ryli Harmon, Madalyn Dunn, Promise Houck and Abby Turnpaugh.

Perry reports his team has, “a good mix of hitters, fielders and pitching.

“We hope to be successul,” he said. “We’ve got a good group of girls that are willing to work hard and be successful,” Perry said.
