For most of you, when your phone rang you have heard these words way more than once.... this is Kevin Rhoads with the City of Purcell. The city decided about six years ago to invest in a mass notification system. The system was designed for mass notification on major storms, infrastructure failures such as water/electric.

When the system was first put in place the vendor, Blackboard Connect, went to our local phone company, and took all the roof top phone numbers and created our system, but also you could go onto their website and sign up. Later, that service was transferred onto our website.

Go to www.purcellok.gov website for the City of Purcell and click on the link Blackboard Connect Emergency Services at the bottom of the Home page to sign up for the free service. When you pull up the website, go to “Community” and then click on “Receive alerts about weather & outages.”

Currently we have 3,186 users on the system, which can hold many more. I encourage you to sign up to receive important information about what is going on in our city in times of emergencies.

The City of Purcell is pleased to announce the launch of the Blackboard Connect service, our new city-to-resident notification system.

With this service, city leaders can send personalized voice messages to residents and businesses within minutes with specific information about time-sensitive or common-interest issues such as emergencies and local community matters. The Connect service will be used to supplement our current communication plans and augment public safety/first responder services.
