Posted

The angels rejoiced Monday, August 17, 2020 when Mildred Irene Huxall arrived home to be in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

A viewing for Mildred will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2020, come and go all day at Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell, Oklahoma.

A memorial service will follow on Friday, August 21 at 10 a.m. also at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in Miami, Oklahoma at The G.A.R. Municipal Cemetery Memory Garden following the memorial.

Mildred was born on Feb. 20, 1928 to Ola and Oba Yancy in Coleman County, Texas. For many years, she served alongside her husband, Rev. John F. Huxall, at various churches throughout Oklahoma and Texas. Together they served as pastors and evangelists, singing and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Mildred was a twentieth century woman. She grew up riding in a horse and wagon, then a Model T, saw some of the first airplanes, the first lunar landing, the first televisions and the advancement of technology as we know it today.  She was an avid reader, loved to quilt and crochet, and she was a talented seamstress.

She loved fishing, gardening and baking and was fearless in the face of snakes, ornery roosters and hogs. She held various jobs throughout her life but enjoyed her 13 years at Walmart the most. She was a devoted wife and mother to her five children. Above all, she loved Jesus and followed him all of her days.

Mildred attended the Pentecostal Church of God in Lexington, Oklahoma where she was the pianist until 2019 when she then moved to Texas to be near her children, Johnny and Deanna and her granddaughter, Debi.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry Hudean Hunter in 1956 and her beloved John Fred Huxall Sr. in 2013.

She is survived by her daughters, Deanna Schuh, Gail Loughridge, and Rhonda Schuelke and her sons, Darryl Hunter and John Fred Huxall Jr.; her grandchildren, Debi Scaggs, Stephen Jett, Joe Armstrong, Jeanetta Carlton, Misty Hamilton, Buddy Hamilton, Brenda Punzel, Stacie Schuelke, Tina Maslach, Katie Mayberry, Heath Huxall and Dr. Jordan Torres; 23 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

She had many, many friends who will miss her immensely, especially her “ya-ya girls”, Nancy, Maryanne and Sandy. A special thanks to her neighbor and friend, Alma Hickman, who was an angel on earth to her in her final years.
