Funeral services for Lois Billings, 81, of Washington was held Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Services were under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.

Mrs. Billings passed away Saturday, January 4, 2020. 

Lois Jean Chandler was born June 13, 1938 in Tahlequah, Okla., the sixth of seven children born to Owen and Katherine Mae (Webb) Chandler. She was raised in the Muskogee and Tahlequah area, and graduated from Muskogee High School.

She married her best friend and life partner, Eli Billings, on November 23, 1955 in Muskogee. They first made their home in Moore, before settling in Washington in the summer of 1975. Together they raised two daughters, Robin and Terri.

Lois worked for many years as Elementary School Secretary for Washington Public Schools. She was community minded and stayed active supporting the school, her friends and neighbors. Lois’s greatest joy was her family, and she cherished her daughters and her grandchildren.

She was a woman of great faith and longtime and faithful member of the First Christian Church in Purcell, where she served in many capacities. The last several years, Lois has battled Alzheimer’s. Through its progression, she was courageous and remained positive, and blessed her family and friends. She was the best mother; a loving grandmother, sister, aunt and a true friend. She will be truly missed!

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eli Billings; parents, Owen and Katherine Chandler; two brothers, Ralph Chandler and Earl Chandler and three sisters, Maxine Smith, Helen Young and Betty Beadle.

Lois is survived by her daughters, Robin Curran and husband, Tim, of Moore and Terri Hinkle and husband, Richard, of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren, Mandy Sykes and husband, Brent, Samantha, Richard Ray, Eliot and Sean; five great-grandchildren, Paige, Elinor, Josephine, Lincoln and Clayton and a host of other family and friends.
