The Lexington fast-pitch team played just one game in the last week. The Lady ‘Dawgs defeated the Davis Wolves, 15-4, on Monday as they improved to a sparkling 14-5 on the season.
They were scheduled to play at Community Christian School in Norman last Thursday. However, due to the death of Lexington Middle School football player Riley Boatwright, the game was canceled out of respect for the Boatwright family.
“We didn’t play CCS due to the accident at Tuesday night’s middle school football game,” said Lexington head coach Kayla Stewart.
In the game at Davis on Monday, pitcher Kaylee Fink went the distance as she yielded four runs (three earned) on nine hits. She struck out one and walked one in an efficient outing. She threw 56 of her 82 pitches for strikes.
Lexington scored two in the top of the first inning, three more in the second, one run in the fourth inning and two more runs in the fifth.
In the bottom of the fifth, Davis finally got on the scoreboard with four runs.
The Lady ‘Dawgs put the game away for good, however, as they scored a whopping seven runs in the top of the sixth inning.
Lexington had 14 hits in the game.
Lex also beat Davis, 10-0, at home on Sept. 12. The Wolves are stout with a 21-9 record. The victory was the eighth straight for the Lady ‘Dawgs and their 11th win in their last 13 games following a 3-3 start to the season.
Maddy Pack went 3-for-5 against Davis with three runs scored and three runs batted in. Pack cracked another home run in the process. Lindsey Barber also had three hits, including two runs scored along with a double.
Emilee Jenks, Anna Sample and Lauren Beason all had two hits each. Lexington had nine extra base hits in the contest.
The Lady ‘Dawgs are now set for the Regional tournament at home this Thursday and Friday. They will play Heritage Hall at noon today (Thursday).
“We are district champs and will host Regionals Thursday and Friday with times to be announced,” Stewart said.
