Monday night, the ‘Dawgs dropped a 6-0 loss to Marlow.
Lexington collected four hits, one each from Cameron Haley, Buddy Cormany, James McMillan and Corey Ramsey.
Marlow added a couple runs most innings to come away with the win.
Colby Haynes was on the mound for four and two-thirds innings. He allowed five runs on seven hits. He walked five and struck out five.
“Colby pitched great. To keep last year’s State champion to just six runs is great. I was pleased with our pitching,” head coach Matt Dierking said.
Kash Klupenger came on in relief. He allowed one earned run and one walk.
Over the weekend, the Bulldogs were in Dibble for a tournament. Thanks to six runs in the fourth inning, they beat Ardmore 7-5 in their first game.
Both teams collected five hits in the game.
Kash Klupenger, Ryan Johnson, Kaiden McRavin, Corey Ramsey and Cody Rollins each had one hit.
Colby Haynes, Johnson and Rollins each had an RBI.
Lexington got on the board first when an error scored one run in the bottom of the first inning.
Ardmore answered with one run in the top of the second and three more in the top of the third.
In the bottom of the fourth inning four hits and an error helped the Bulldogs score six runs to take the lead and ultimately win the game.
Klupenger was on the mound for Lexington to start. He pitched two innings allowing four runs on three hits (two earned). He walked one and struck out one.
Haynes came on in relief for four innings. He allowed one run on two hits. Haynes also walked one and struck out one.
“I thought we played ok. Not our greatest game, but we had timely hits and pulled through to get the win,” Dierking said.
In their second game of the tournament, Lexington lost to host Dibble, 10-3.
“We were just outhit and made too many mistakes against Dibble,” Dierking said.
The Bulldogs collected just two hits in the loss – one each from Johnson and McRavin.
Dibble scored first with one run in the bottom of the first inning. They added five more runs in the third.
Lexington got on the board in the top of the fourth with three runs.
Dibble added two runs in the fourth and fifth innings to seal their win.
McMillan was on the mound for Lexington. He pitched four and one-third inning allowing 10 runs on eight hits. He walked five and struck out three.
The Bulldogs had three errors in the loss.
In their final game of the tournament, Lexington lost to Purcell 10-3.
The Dragons scored seven runs in the bottom of the second inning to get on board first.
“I thought we played well against Purcell, but they had that big inning. I’m proud of the team, though. They didn’t fold. We kept playing our game and kept our heads up,” Dierking said.
Lexington put a crooked number up in the top of the fifth when two runs scored. They added one more in the sixth.
Purcell finished the game with three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the win.
The ‘Dawgs collected five hits in the loss led by McRavin’s two. Klupenger, Johnson and Rollins had one apiece.
The Bulldogs were hosting Marlow on Tuesday then headed to the Santa Fe tournament starting Thursday.
The Bulldogs play Santa Fe South at 2:30 p.m. Thursday and Destiny Christian at 4:45 Friday.
The Bulldogs are 7-10 on the season.
“We’re up and down but overall we’re improving. The pitching has been great all year, but our bats and fielding still need to come along,” Dierking said.
