Larry Dean Brumley

Larry Dean Brumley, age 66, of Purcell, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach. He was born in Iberia, Mo., on October 6, 1955, son of the late Jimmy Joe Brumley and Kathern Lou (Humphrey) Prather. 

Larry was an avid equestrian, traveling the country showing Quarter and Paint horses.  Larry took home several top ten finishes in the PtHA World Championship Shows in English Pleasure and Halter, even bringing home a World Championship.

He loved animals, especially dogs, and was a talented singer and artist. He was employed at Fort Leonard Wood for many years before being transferred to Oklahoma Tinker Air Force Base, retiring after 38 years of employment. Larry was a member of the Iberia First Baptist Church. 

He is survived by his siblings, Michael Brumley, Sonja Luttrell (Kenny), Lisa Baker (Ricky), Beverley Overbey, Bridget Robertson (Leroy), Bill Brumley (Julie), Jay Brumley (Rae), and Rodney Brumley (Charlie); father, Richard “Buck” Prather; mother, Nelma Brumley; uncle and aunt, Ronnie and Marilyn Humphrey; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathern Lou Prather; father, Jimmy Joe Brumley; nephew, Brooks Baker, and great-niece, Miah Holtmeyer.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., with services immediately following at 11 a.m., on Friday, February 11, 2022, at Iberia First Baptist Church with Bro. Roy Bryant.  Interment will be held in Union Cemetery near Iberia. 

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Iberia Saddle Club.
