Labor contract

FOP, City of Purcell reach agreement

Posted

After months of negotiations behind closed doors, the Purcell City Council and FOP #194 reached an agreement Tuesday evening for the current fiscal year.

City manager Dale Bunn said the 2021-22 labor contract was approved on a 4-0 vote following an executive session.

In June, the council approved a 2-year labor contract with the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 3596 representing the Purcell Fire Department.

That contract for fiscal years 2021-22 and 2022-23 passed with unanimous council approval.

Bunn said council members discussed a real estate matter associated with the existing Purcell Municipal Hospital and the new hospital under construction, but took no action when they returned to open session.

During its regular meeting, the council approved an ordinance amendment that restricts commercial marijuana grow operations inside the city limits to sites zoned industrial.

Bunn said one such operation on Juneau Street will be grandfathered in.

That operation is located on land zoned for agriculture.
