Mrs. Gosnell passed away Thursday, September 15, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Katy was born, February 17, 1930, in Stratford, Oklahoma, the second of five children born to Elmo and Ruby Mae (Lee) Rakestraw. She spent her early years in the Stratford and Maysville, Oklahoma areas, and she attended junior high and high school at Crooked Oak in Oklahoma City.

Katy was extremely active in school and participated in multiple activities.  She played basketball where she was named the captain of the team and student coach for the junior high basketball team.  Katy graduated Crooked Oak High School in 1948 and attended one year of business college.

In 1957, Katy met and married the love of her life, Marvin Gosnell. Together the couple had four amazing children who meant the world to them.

Katy surrendered her life to Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior as a very young girl and always had a servant’s heart. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Wayne for over 40 years and recently of First Baptist Church in Mustang for over 10 years. She was active in her church and enjoyed investing in others. Katy taught Sunday School, Bible School and G.A.’s for many years.

Katy worked hard both at the home and on the job. She was a loyal employee of Walmart for 20 years, retiring in 2010. She was involved in numerous community activities, as well.  Katy was a 4-H leader and served in the Women’s Oklahoma Polled Hereford Association as president.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, cooking and feeding her catfish. But family was the absolute most important thing to her and she loved spending time with her children. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Gosnell; her parents, Elmo Rakestraw and Ruby Mae Lee Rakestraw-Schweitzer; and brothers, Perry Lee Rakestraw, Bobby Rakestraw and Don Rakestraw and her sister, Dena Spaulding.

Katy is survived by children, Mary Beth Kissee Olson and husband, Scott, of Littleton, Colo., Ricky Gosnell of Oklahoma City, Jamie Huddleston and husband, Kent, of Decatur, Texas, Tammy Williams and husband, Mark, of Mustang, Okla., and Sandra Griswold and husband, Mike, of Yukon, Okla.; her grandchildren, Laramie Huddleston and wife, Menda, Matthew Huddleston and wife, Katie, Blake Williams, Cail Williams and fiance’, Chelsea Morgan, Jantzen Griswold and Jordan Griswold; great-grandchildren, La’el and Shem Huddleston and Lila Mae Huddleston along with a host of friends.
