A Celebration of Life Memorial Mass for Kathleen Duggins, 65, of Lexington was held Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Purcell. Interment was in the Veterans Section at Hillside Cemetery under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.

Mrs. Duggins passed away Monday, December 23, 2019.

Kathleen Giroux was born December 10, 1954 in Oklahoma City, Okla., the fourth of five children born to Henry Louis Giroux and Agnes Elizabeth (Lamprecht) Giroux.

She was raised in Lexington and first attended Our Lady of Victory Catholic School in Purcell until sixth grade. She then attended junior high and high school at Lexington, graduating with the Class of 1973. After high school Kathleen attended the University of Oklahoma.

Then in 1979, she met a young man named Jim Duggins from Purcell, who was attending Pharmacy School at Southwestern Oklahoma State and at that time, he was the lead guitar player for her brother Mike’s band called the “Smokehouse.”

Her passion was listening to music, especially the 60s and 70s. Kathleen and Jim’s connection was strong from the beginning, they quickly fell in love and were married on June 20, 1980 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Purcell. They first made their home in Purcell and later Noble for a time. They eventually settled east of Lexington on the old Giroux family farm.

Although Kathleen and Jim were never able to have kids of their own, she was a mother to many. Throughout the years, they fostered several sibling groups and this made Kathleen’s heart full. She loved and nurtured these kids in ways that only she could. Kathleen was a kind hearted and generous soul. She cherished her family and friends, and she could tell you anything you needed to know about one of her daytime soap operas.

She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Purcell, and an active member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Kathleen helped her husband Jim, teach Sunday school for over six years. She also was head cashier at United Foods for five years. She will be truly missed!

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Agnes Giroux and her brother, Kenneth Ray Giroux.

Kathleen is survived by her husband, Jim Duggins of the home; children, Cheyanne, Dahnevyn and Hayden Pace, of the home; foster children, Israel, Melody, Lyric and Judah Gibbs; sister, Cecilia Belcher of Norman; two brothers, Michael Giroux of Norman and Alfred Giroux and wife, Rita, of Purcell; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other family and friends.
