Washington won two games at the Big Cat Classic in Moore on Monday.
They defeated Norman North (16-4) and Guthrie (14-0).
Head coach Tylor Lampkin was extremely pleased with his team’s play.
“We played really, really well,” he said. “We made a few defensive changes towards the end of last week and it’s really helped us.”
Norman North
Washington pounced in the bottom of the second inning with five runs after Norman North scored one in the top half.
The Warriors scored six runs in the third and five more in the fourth inning.
Washington belted seven home runs in the game, led by Raelee Adkins’ three homers.
She was 3-3 with six RBIs.
Ava Salcedo hit two more home runs while going 3-3 with four RBIs.
Emersyn Massey and Briley Beller both sent one out of the yard as well.
Reese Schrader was 2-2 and had a double in the game.
Defensively, the Warriors were clean with no errors.
Guthrie
Washington hit seven more homers in their 14-0 win over Guthrie.
Salcedo (2), Beller (2), Adkins (1), Julie Hoehner (1) and Shelbie Caveness (1) were the responsible parties.
“We hit a lot of home runs but we’re hitting it great up and down the lineup,” Lampkin said. “We’ve been a lot more patient and we’re getting deeper in counts and hitting it well.”
Washington started the game scoring four runs in the first inning, five in the second and five in the third.
Playoffs
The Washington Warriors began the State playoffs Wednesday at home when Marietta and Dickson visited for the District tournament.
Stats will be in next week’s paper.
Washington is 19-4 this season.
