Special election to change to charter form of government

The Special Election in Goldsby to frame a charter for its government will be held May 13.

Mayor Glenn Berglan issued a proclamation after the town’s Board of Trustees voted to allow the citizens to cast ballots on the issue.

That will result in qualified electors of their respective wards within the town to file and run for positions known as Freeholders.

The proclamation went on to say two qualified electors from each ward prepare and propose a charter for the town.

The filing period for electing qualified electors from each ward to act as the Board of Freeholders to frame the charter will begin at 8 a.m. May 2 and close at 5 p.m. May 4.

To be eligible, the elector my have been a resident of that ward for at least six months prior to the filing.

Filing will be at the office of the town clerk at the Goldsby municipal building.

Early voting will be held at the Goldsby Community Building from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 12.

On election day, voting will be conducted at the Goldsby Community Building.
