Gloria C. Smith was born August 10, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois. She passed from this life on April 28, 2021 at the age of 89. She went from the big city to the backwoods of Tennessee when she married the love of her life, Charles D. Smith Sr.
Gloria moved to Lexington with Charles in 1974. They became the owners of Riverside Grocery when they moved to Lexington. Together they operated the convenience store for 25 years. Gloria became affectionately know as Mom to a couple of generations. Kids from Lexington to Lindsey she loved them all.
In her later years she loved to reminisce about customers they had. She could spend hours going over friendships made at the store. We would like to thank the community for making her family feel welcome.
Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Charles D. Smith and her oldest son, Charles D. Smith Jr.
Gloria is survived by her sons, James F. Smith and wife, Charlott, of Lexington and Adam S. Smith of the home; grandson, Chris Price and wife, Heather, of Blanchard and seven great-grandchildren.
