Choose your fun.

Purcell will celebrate Independence Day two days early with an event co-sponsored by the City of Purcell and Heart of Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce.

The celebration at Purcell Lake promises to deliver on plenty to see, do and enjoy.

Activities will begin at 5 p.m. since, for many, Friday is a work day.

Belle Starr Saloon is providing a band to get the celebration off on a musical note.

Yard games at the Chandler Pavilion are also high on the list of activities.

There will also be inflatables.

And for anyone working upan appetite on those games, Purcell’s Parks & Recreation Department has you covered.

John Blue, the department’s director, said several food trucks will be serving sustenance.

And that’s not all.

Weaver Pavilion will be the site of an Independence Day car show.

To get you in the proper automotive frame of mind, feel free to join the 5 p.m. parade of vehicles participating in Drag the Lake Road.

Car show registration will open at 6 p.m., followed by judging at 7 p.m.

Car show is a new addition this year.

The celebration finale will be the fireworks show at 9:45 p.m.
