Earl Dean Wright, 72, of Lexington, Okla., died June 4, 2020, at Purcell Municipal Hospital.

Earl was born August 28th, 1947 to Warren and Oleta (Cole) Wright, the eighth of 10 children in Enid, Okla. The family moved to Wichita, Kan., where he graduated high school before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in 1965. He served until 1969 in Vietnam, Turkey, France, Italy, Puerto Rico, and Spain, attaining the rank of Staff Sargent/E-6.

He moved to Lexington in 1978, to make his life away from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy country living. It was there that he and his wife Jacque raised three children. Earl was an avid hunter who loved wild game and kept, at various times, rabbits, peacocks, chickens, goats, guineas, and turkeys. He loved providing the freshest food possible for his family, and also kept a garden producing tomatoes, okra, corn, snap peas, melons, spinach, and strawberries among others. He also enjoyed smoking meats for family events and his ribs and brisket were among the best anywhere.

Earl is survived by his wife, Jacque; his three children, Wayne Wright and his wife, Aimee, of Norman, Okla., Eric Wright of Ft. Smith, Ark., and Meaghan Eubank of Lexington, Okla.; four grandchildren, Madison, Hunter, Zack and Mason; his brother, David Wright; his sisters, Donna Walton, Sharon Rotenberry, Netty Clouse and Margaret Lee, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Clyde, Frank and Leonard; and one sister, Nellie Ake.

In accordance with his wishes, and due to current health concerns surrounding the novel coronavirus, Earl’s memorial will be family only, at his home in Lexington.
