Coming off last week’s scrimmage at Anadarko, Purcell will officially start the 2021 season off on the road Friday night.

Kickoff for the game at Lone Grove will be at 7:30 p.m.

Purcell Head Coach Tracy Scott said he liked what he saw last Friday night in Caddo County.

“We played pretty good,” Scott confirmed. “We did some good things but we still have a lot to work on.

“But, I’m pleased with the effort. I felt like we got after them pretty good,” he said.

Purcell’s lone score in the scrimmage was a pass from quarterback Creed Smith to Titus Mason.

When the two teams start the season Friday, Scott expects the Longhorns to line up in a 4-3 on defense and will  play mainly a two back set out of the shotgun on offense.

“When you look at them on film you can tell they have some good athletes,” Scott said.

One thing good for Purcell this year is Lone Grove doesn’t have the massive size in the line.

“So we kinda’ match up with them there,” Scott said.

The coach said his team must play good defense and play ball control on offense.

“We can’t turn the ball over. We need to put together drives,” Scott concluded.
