Mr. Rolin passed away Friday, August 28, 2020.

Douglas Ray Rolin was born January 11, 1944 in Purcell, the fourth of nine children born to Clarence Douglas Rolin and Ila Mae (Cypert) Rolin. He spent his early years, all in Purcell, and spent a short time in Wasco, Calif., before moving back home. Doug graduated with Dragons Class of 1963.

His life would change forever when by chance, he met Ms. LaVerne Richardson at the Dairy King. They fell in love and were married November 21, 1966. They made their home in Purcell where together they raised two children, daughter, Gina and son, Marty.

Doug worked for ODOT as a Bridge and Road Inspector. In addition, he worked for more than 25 years at Lowell George’s Mobile Station, and as he said, “it’s my spending money.” Doug loved camping trips with his family, fishing every chance he could and deer hunting. He loved the Dallas Cowboys, watched “Gunsmoke” religiously and listened to Hank Williams Sr. sing song.

He cherished LaVerne, was the best dad and was never happier than the day he became a PaPa. He was a man of great faith and a longtime member of the Sunray Baptist Church. He will be dearly missed!

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Rolin in October of 2019; is parents, Clarence and Ila Mae Rolin and infant sister, Rosie Rolin.

Doug is survived by his wife, LaVerne of the home; daughter, Gina Solomon and husband, Rodney, of Norman; son, Marty Rolin and wife, Jill, of Norman; sisters, June Murray of Wayne, Wilma Fielder of Purcell and Alyce Julian and husband, Tony, of Purcell; brothers, Bill Rolin and wife, Lora, of Purcell, Jerry Rolin of Byars and Randy Rolin and wife, Jana, of Purcell; four grandchildren, Megan Solomon, Josh Solomon and Jeremy Solomon, all of Norman, and Aubree Rolin of Sherwood, Ark.; several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
