Connie was born February 2, 1954, in Talihina, Oklahoma, to Jackie “Jack” and Bertha (Long) Riley.
Raised in the close-knit community of Purcell, Oklahoma, Connie’s life was a tapestry woven with love, dedication, and joy. On February 18, 1972, she married her soulmate, James “Jim” Lane in Gainesville, Texas. Their 39 years of marriage were a testament to their profound love and partnership, a bond that endured until Jim’s passing in 2011.
After raising her family, Connie dedicated many years to a career in law enforcement, serving with compassion and integrity from her early days as a jailer to her role as a deputy. Her professional commitment was matched only by her personal passions. An avid fan of the Oklahoma Sooner’s, Connie embraced the thrill of game days with enthusiasm. Her talents extended beyond her career; she enjoyed sewing, painting, and gardening, finding solace in creative expression and the beauty of nature.
Yet, it was her family that brought her the most joy. Connie cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, attending sporting events and school functions, reveling in the laughter and love that surrounded her. As we remember Connie Lane, let us celebrate her vibrant spirit, her unwavering dedication to her loved ones, and the countless memories she created with all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy is one of love, family, and community—a life beautifully lived.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Bertha Riley; her husband of 39 years, Jim Lane; her stepson, Vernon Dees; and infant sister, Cathy Sue Riley.
