Funeral Services for Charles Henry Rogez, Sr., 85, of Purcell were held Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.

Mr. Rogez passed away Thursday, August 6, 2020.

Charles was born April 6, 1935 in Coalton, Okla., the middle child and only son of Henry F. Rogez and Pauline Teresa (Ingle) Rogez. Charles was raised in Schulter and attended school there, graduating with the Class of 1953.

On May 8, 1954, Charles married his high school sweetheart, his best friend and life partner, Nancy McGee in Okmulgee. Together they raised three sons, Chuck, David and Robert.

Charles attended Conner’s State on a basketball scholarship and graduated with an Associate’s degree in petroleum engineering. After a year at the University of Oklahoma, he went to work for Sinclair Oil Co. to support his young family. He soon had lots of job opportunities and started working for Sunray DX Oil Co., which later became Sun Oil Co.  His career with DX and Sun moved his family from Tulsa to Drumright, Skiatook, Ada, Healdton, and lastly Purcell in 1970 where he was production supervisor for the Criner Segment.

He resigned early after starting Cedar Oil Co. with a few stripper wells. He then partnered with Raymond Lackey to start CRK Oil Co., and his career as an independent oil producer took off. His knowledge of the oil fields at Criner, Healdton and Ada, was well known.

Charles loved to hunt and fish. Quail hunting at the end of a work day, always had us cleaning a limit of birds, well after dark. Pheasant hunting trips to South Dakota with his oil field buddies and family trips to Nebraska were yearly events. Everyone would say he was the best bird hunter they knew, and he was invited to the Grand National Quail Hunt many years. Charles was a good man who was always helping people and asking for nothing in return.

He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Rogez; son, Robert Rogez; daughter-in-law, Virginia Rogez; his parents, Henry and Pauline Teresa Rogez; sister, Janet Williams and husband, Tim; brother-in-law, Wayne Roney and uncle, Numa Rogez.

Charles is survived by two sons, Chuck Rogez of Purcell and David Rogez and wife, Jan, of Purcell; sister, Teresa Roney of Glenpool, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
