Chargers too much

Posted

Purcell’s football season hit the brakes at No. 1 Heritage Hall last Friday night.

The Dragons, who finished the season 5-6, were shutout by the Chargers 42-0.

“We didn’t play very well,” head coach Tracy Scott said. “They’re a good team. They have so much team speed.

“But we didn’t play as well as we’ve been playing. Maybe they are just that good.”

Scott said he told his assistant coaches during the game that the Dragons need to get off their blocks.

“We looked like fly paper with their linemen sticking to us,” Scott said.

“They are so good. If you stack the box to stop the run, they pass. If you take a player out of the box then they run,” he said.

Scott said the Dragons had some defensive guys that played pretty well.

“(Jeremy) Cudd played pretty well,” the coach said.

“(Nick) Albright made some plays and Sam (Wofford) played pretty well,” he said.

Otherwise, it was a pretty long night for the Dragons.

There were no nominations for Player of the Week.
