Funeral services for Catherine Burgett, 90, of Noble were held Monday, May 3, 2021 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Noble Ward. Interment was at the Noble I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.

Ms. Burgett passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2021.

Catherine Mary Bakhaus was born July 5, 1930 in Oklahoma City, Okla., the older of two children born to George William Bakhaus and Ethel Blanche (Coe) Bakhaus. Catherine was raised on the family homestead near Slaughterville and learned at a very young age, the value of hard work. She attended school in Lexington, graduating with the Bulldog Class of 1948.

Catherine started working at Humpty Dumpty. She worked for Malone’s Packing Plant for a time and the Guilt Edge Dairy Farm, before taking a job with Western Electric. Catherine retired after more than 20 years of dedicated service.

Catherine was proud to be her family historian, and traveled wherever her genealogy leads could help her. She enjoyed painting, and visiting antique stores, and she cherished being a grandmother.

She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Noble Ward. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, aunt and a true friend.  

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Tressler; granddaughters, Diana Gayle Bennett and Catherine Bennett; brother, Wayne Bakhaus and parents, George and Ethel Bakhaus.

Catherine is survived by her daughter, Diana Kay College and husband, Bruce, of Norman; 7 grandchildren, Denise Shahan and husband, Daniel, of Norman, Tony Bennett and wife, Christie, of Norman, Bryan Gwin and wife, Brandy, of Houston, Texas, Cynthia Sudmann and husband, Dallas, of Liberty, Mo., Amanda Tressler of Norman, Crystal Barboza of Austin, Texas, Sue College of Phoenix, Ariz.; 10 great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.
