A Celebration of Life Memorial for Carol Stapp, 77, of Purcell will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2020 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Purcell. Services will be under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.

Mrs. Stapp passed away Thursday, June 25, 2020.

Carol Jean Perigo was born January 13, 1943, in Dallas, Texas, one of four children born to Alvie and Elizabeth Perigo. She lived in Hutchins and attended school at Wilmer-Hutchins.

Carol met a young man from Waxahachie, who had recently moved into the school district. His name was Lester Stapp and they were the perfect match. Carol graduated Valedictorian from Wilmer Hutchins High School in 1961, and later that summer, on June 29, Lester and Carol were married. They moved to Purcell where together they raised three children, son, Michael, and daughters, Jana and Susie.

For more than 32 years, Carol worked side by side with Lester as co-owners of the family business, Sherri Classics in Purcell. She was a Girl Scout Leader and remained actively involved with a member of various book clubs. Carol was an avid reader and never missed a chance to curl up with a good book.

She was a gifted quilter and shared her many talents with her family and friends. She enjoyed decorating and was affectionately known to those closest to her, as “Martha Stewart.” Carol was an excellent cook and will be forever remembered by her husband for her corn bread.

Carol loved the Lord, and she lived her life in faith. She was a longtime member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was a Rotary Cook and active in the UMW.  She was a devoted wife and daughter, mother and grandmother, sister, Aunt and a true friend. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Stapp; her father, Alvie Perigo and brother-in-law, Harold Enox.

Carol is survived by her best friend and life partner, Lester Stapp of the home; her daughters, Jana Rolin and husband, Randy, of Purcell and Susie Peters and husband, Dean, of Purcell; her mother, Elizabeth Perigo Cantrell of Purcell; brother, Bobby Perigo of Lexington; sisters, Nancy Enox Richardson and husband, Dale, of Purcell and Sherri Sikes and husband, Connie, of Purcell; four grandchildren, Emma Rolin, Erik Gonzalez, Blake Peters and Gracie Rolin; several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
