The McClain County Sheriff’s Department and the Oklahoma State Fire Marshal are investigating a fatality house fire in Byars Sunday afternoon.
Deputy sheriff Timothy Cook responded to the fire at 12:39 p.m. at 10633 Fox Road in Stratford, which is barely in McClain County.
Cook said when he arrived at the scene the structure was fully engulfed in flames.
Donna Lee Bauschka was at home alone when the fire broke out and was killed.
Her husband, David, was uninjured.
McClain County Sheriff Landy Offolter reported David had gone on an errand and when he returned home he saw the house engulfed in flames.
Byars and Stratford Fire Deparements responded to the fire but by the time they arrived the house was a total loss.
Preliminary reports point to the fire starting due to an electrical problem.
