Purcell firefighters extinguished a dumpster fire behind the CBD Plus Dispensary Monday afternoon. Besides the torched dumpster, no other damage or injuries were reported.
Purcell Firefighters answered a call Monday at 2:23 p.m. at 611 West Washington Street when a gas meter was struck by a vehicle. Assistant Chief Rocky Claunch turned off the meter and fire crews remained on the scene until Oklahoma Natural Gas officials arrived.
Purcell Firefighters had a busy day Monday answering two calls on Interstate 35 for auto accidents and two other calls that afternoon.
First responders were called to I-35 at 9:52 a.m. for what turned out to be a non-injury accident just north of mile marker 92 in the southbound lanes.
A trailer cam unhooked from a pickup and went into a ravine.
First responders also were called to the interstate just after 1 p.m. for a roll over accident at mile marker 95 in the northbound lanes.
Firefighters used the spreader to open the passenger door. Neither the passenger nor the driver wanted any treatment.
Firefighters were called to the 600 block of West Washington just after 2 p.m. when a vehicle struck a gas meter.
Assistant Chief Rocky Claunch turned the meter off. One fire truck and crew remained on the scene until officials from Oklahoma Natural Gas arrived to fix the meter.
Finally, firefighters were summoned to 1923 South Green Avenue to a dumpster that was ablaze behind the CDB Dispensary in the strip mall north of Walmart.
The blaze was quickly extinguished and there were no injuries.
