Bumpy road for Dragons

Purcell found the sledding tough last Thursday in the Purcell/Lexington Tournament losing games to Lindsay, Wayne and Elmore City-Pernell.

Lindsay shutout the Dragons 16-0 with Savanna Edwards getting two of Purcell’s three hits. Missy Nimsey had the other hit.

The Dragons committed seven errors in the game.

The error bug continued in the 17-14 loss to Wayne with Purcell making six.

Hannah Buchanan led the offense driving in runs in with a double in the second and a home run in the fourth frame. She finished with five RBIs for the game.

Edwards, Kailynn Helton and Alie Holler-Willess had two hits each. Helton’s was a double. Missy Nimsey smacked a triple in the contest.

Purcell’s big inning was the second when they scored nine times thanks to doubles by Helton and Buchanan, the Nimsey triple and singles by Summer Thornberry and by Kinley Croslin.

ECP out-hit Purcell 17-13 pinning a 14-11 loss on the now 1-5 Dragons.

Brook Fleming went yard not once but twice and had six RBIs while scoring twice.

Buchanan also had a pair of dingers in a 3-3 outing that included a trio of RBIs and she scored three times.

Nimsey was also 3-3 and tallied three times for Purcell. Croslin went 2-3 and an RBI in the losing cause. Holler-Willess was also 2-3.

Purcell is scheduled to travel to Southmoore Monday and host Davis Tuesday.
