Posted

Head coach Shane Collins and his Bulldogs were in Crescent last week for Districts with the Tigers.

They fell 8-3 in game one and 11-4 in game two to end their season.

Through two games, the Bulldogs had 15 hits and five RBIs. Brian Ibarra, Rhett Kennedy and Andy Lee each had four hits during District play.

Andy Lee led the team with three ribbies through two games.

The Bulldogs are a young team and will only lose two to graduation, Ibarra and Talon Trent.

“Our seniors did a good job for us this year. We appreciate all that they did and they will definitely be missed,” Collins said.

Ibarra was a four year starter for the Bulldogs.

“Brian was a mid-line up hitter and played all the positions we asked him to play. He played everywhere on the field,” Collins said.

Trent transferred to Wayne this year and this was his first year playing. He saw lot of time running the bases as a pinch runner for the Bulldogs.

“Talon did a great job of learning and finding a way to get on the field for us.”

Coach Collins said he’s sad to lose his seniors but that the future is bright for the Bulldogs.

“We have a good group of guys and the kids coming up from the junior high can play. We should be looking good for the upcoming years,” Collins said.
