5 questions with Trace Steele

Posted

Editor’s note: Answering  The Purcell Register’s five questions this week is Trace Steele, owner of Trace’s Tackle Plus LLC.

Q: How did you decide to open a tackle shop in Lexington?

A: I have always dreamed of having my own bait and tackle store. I chose Lexington because I wanted to be close to my daughter, Megan Henderson, her husband, Derick Henderson, and our new grandbaby, Memphis Mae Henderson.

My son-in-law’s uncle, Michael Henderson, owned the prospective property where I wanted to open my bait and tackle shop. I was blessed to be able to purchase the commercial lot from him and keep it in the family.

The address is 128 W. Broadway St., Lexington, OK 73051.

Q: Have you always been a fisherman?

A: I have always been an avid fisherman. I grew up fishing with my dad. In his retirement he owned a bait and tackle shop for 13 years. He passed away in December of 2020 from COVID.

I was able to retire early from my career and start my dream and follow my dad’s legacy.

Q: What type of fishing do most of your customers like?

A: Most of my customers are avid bass fishermen.

Q: Do you prefer lake or pond fishing?

A: I prefer pond fishing.

Q: Fishing is usually a hobby, but it’s your business. So what is your hobby?

A: My favorite hobbies include making garage sales and enjoying time with family on vacation or traveling.
