Editor’s note: Answering The Purcell Register’s five questions this week is Rick Horton, Lexington Nursing Home administrator.
Q: How did you get started in nursing homes?
A: Doc said there was an opportunity at the facility. He asked if I was interested. Living and working in the same community just made sense.
Q: What is the biggest change in the industry that came out of the pandemic?
A: Visitation! We went from an open, free-flowing facility to a restricted location. We are now open again, but everyone entering the facility must undergo screening and wear a mask.
Q: Are you able to leave the office at the office at the end of the day?
A: Physically but mentally you’re always there.
Q: What hobbies to you have to help you relax?
A: I play in a couple of fantasy football leagues.
Q: What is something that most people don’t know about you?
A: I’m a licensed funeral director and embalmer.
